Highway intersection upgrades to create freer flowing traffic around Selwyn

ALDEN WILLIAMS/Stuff Proposed changes for roads in south of Christchurch, including a new roundabout to improve safety at the Main South Rd, Dunns Crossing Rd, and Walkers Rd intersection, will be open for public review. The proposed changes by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), closely working with the Selwyn District Council and KiwiRail, included an overbridge between the Rolleston township and industrial hub, investment in SH1 intersections between Rolleston and Burnham, and changes to the rail corridor to improve train operations. NZTA director of regional relationships James Caygill said the proposed improvements would mean better efficiency for commuters and freight routes, leading to a “freer flowing highway”.
