Returning to making music together after the hiatus imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, CCC presents an pre-recorded concert. Drawing from a diverse collection of European and American composers from the sixteenth century to today, we contrast settings of the same poetry, composed centuries apart. Central to this concert are two world premieres: Three Madrigals by renowned Northeast Ohio composer Dolores White; and Two Madrigals by Adolphus Hailstork. Also featured on this program is music by Aleotti, Weelkes, Gibbons, Josquin, Bennet, Stainer, Lauridsen, Brahms, and Rindfleisch. In central Ohio, one such company, E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Co., has carried that load for 14 decades – and its origins can be traced to one of its founders work in profoundly transforming people s lives. John T. Ward served as a conductor in Ohio s Underground Railroad, helping slaves escape from bondage to freedom. Now the company he started in 1881 with his son, William Ward, is marking its 140th anniversary. ....
