United Way Showers Families With Much-Needed Supplies in Dorchester, Mass. – NECN

Another mother, Janice Torres, knows first-hand why the United Way hosting a region-wide baby shower is essential during the paralyzing days of the pandemic.
“This is very important because a lot of people are out of work right now and it’s very hard just to get diapers and wipes,” she said.
“I’m coming to get some food and I see the clothes, so I want to get some clothes for my baby, a third mother said.
In all, the groups say they donated one-month supply of diapers, wipes and $75 gift cards to 1,000 families facing financial struggles.
“The pandemic has taken a toll on families and the hardest hit families have been those who were already living on the edge, said Dahia Cox, who works with United Way. ....

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Dorchester School District Two wants to hear from parents and members of the community on next yearâs budget plans.
As district officials work to solidify budget plans for next year, they say several new plans are in the works. DD2 CFO Tina Meunier says the district will be hosting a public input session to discuss these plans at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Meunier says the district is looking at about a 10% increase in the number of teachers they typically hire. She says this is possible thanks to the emergency relief funding for elementary and secondary schools recently received from the federal government. ....

WE WERE ON THE PORCH, HAVING FUN. THE FUND TURNED DEADLY WHEN THE 73-YEAR-OLD GRANDMOTHER, THE UNINTENDED TARGET IN A NEIGHBORHOOD SHOOTING. A LITTLE, YOUNG BOY FOR NO REASON. SHE DID NOT DESERVE IT.
