MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Before the Grove Court Apartments in downtown Montgomery became overgrown with trees and covered in garbage, it was a beautifully designed federal housing complex for families during World War II.
The apartments were built in 1947 by Bear Brothers construction company, owned by Carl W. Bear and his brothers, Joe and Jack Bear.
Clyde C. Pearson and Farrow Tittle’s architectural firm designed the three-story reinforced concrete structure with associates Parker A. Narrows and John H. Hancock. ....

Trees fell beside the graffiti-covered walls and broken windows as heavy machinery crunched through two decades of overgrowth. Within minutes, the courtyard of downtown Montgomery’s Grove Court Apartments, once a nationally celebrated architectural achievement, was visible again.
Developers caution that the work to renovate and reawaken the historic complex could take two years or more. But in its first few days the project had altered the course of a lawsuit against the city and turned Grove Court into a source of optimism about the area’s future. ....

Trees fell beside the graffiti-covered walls and broken windows as heavy machinery crunched through two decades of overgrowth. Within minutes, the courtyard of downtown Montgomery’s Grove Court Apartments, once a nationally celebrated architectural achievement, was visible again.
Developers caution that the work to renovate and reawaken the historic complex could take two years or more. But in its first few days the project had altered the course of a lawsuit against the city and turned Grove Court into a source of optimism about the area’s future.
The sprawling, 81-unit complex at 559 S. Court St. made a splash when it debuted in the 1940s as the area’s first major post-war structure influenced by modern architectural trends of the time. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. ....

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The historic Grove Court Apartments in downtown Montgomery are getting a much-needed makeover after being abandoned for decades.
Developer GCA Properties, LLC, purchased and closed on the property, located at 559 South Court Street, last week. The company plans to restore the old apartments back into housing but has not made a firm decision on what the end project will be.
The Grove Court Apartment Complex has been purchased and is getting a facelift. (Source: WSFA) ....

The Lincoln Agri-Robotics centre at the University of Lincoln, opened in 2019, is the largest facility of its kind in Europe, and is now on track to become the global leader.
