President Joe Biden faces a wildly daunting first 100 days in office. On the heels of major vaccine developments, Biden committed to getting “at least 100 million Covid-19 vaccine shots into the arms of the American people in the first 100 days.” Beyond this obviously critical effort, there is only so much the new administration can focus on in his first three months. We asked students across the country what they see as the most pressing issue the Biden White House should devote its time and political capital to addressing. We received a wide range of responses, taking in a ....
Watching Rachel Maddow tonight. She’s got Timothy Snyder on. She talked about how yesterday was a good day: it taught the fascists what they can get away with. A good day for Trump, too. Not finished watching, but it meshes with what I concluded last night: which is, we have 4yr to fix this, or we’re going to be back in the shit. And even that assumes that we make it to 20 Jan safely. On this fucker Ash Babbitt: If her name were Jake Dipshit, no “normie” would be shedding ONE FUCKING TEAR. She’s getting sympathy because she’s a woman, and (‘m guessing) a somewhat attractive blonde woman. FUCK THAT. An hour later I found myself sitting in front of my screen, watching with horror as a nationalist mob stormed the U.S. Capitol, holding hostage political leaders along with members of their staff. Like many across the country, I had no idea what to expect next. But I can’t say what I felt was surprise. ....
Opinion: Sedition is a white man s luxury FacebookTwitterEmail Wednesday s attack on the Capitol once again exposed dark truths about how justice is meted out in accordance to skin color in America.Getty The rioting and violence at the Capitol on Wednesday only further proves that the country is divided, and that there are two different Americas we are living in. Rioters violently stormed the Capitol, and police did absolutely nothing to stop it in fact, it reminds me of a line from Giancarlo Esposito in the popular Amazon Prime satire The Boys. Esposito plays Stan Edgar, the calculating CEO of an evil megacorporation that creates superheroes through dubious means. Even as a rich and powerful man, however, Edgar understands the rules are different for him as a Black man in America. ....
As thousands of pro-Trump rioters on Wednesday stormed the US Capitol with law enforcement agencies failing to prevent it, many on social media platforms noted the contrast between police response to the mob at the Capitol versus their treatment of racial justice protesters. ....
