Flags across Plymouth have been lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect following the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh.
Flags at Home Park, Royal William Yard and all council buildings are being flown at half-mast this afternoon after Buckingham Palace announced Prince Philip s passing.

Tributes have flooded in for The Duke of Edinburgh, marking his lifetime of service and support for the Armed Services.
He saw active service from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean, and by 1945 was in Tokyo Bay as the Japanese surrendered.
After his active service career ended, Prince Philip was given honorary five-star appointments in all three services in 1953. In 2011, he was made Lord High Admiral, the office of titular head of the Navy, succeeding the Queen in the role. ....

New Drumchapel captain Susan Cloggie-Holden smashes 116-year glass ceiling


A DRUMCHAPEL resident has become the first female commanding officer in the 116-year history of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
Susan Cloggie-Holden began her Royal Fleet Auxiliary career in September 2000, after studying at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies.
Twenty years after joining the Royal Navy’s crucial supporting fleet, Captain Susan has recently taken charge of the 39,000 tonne tanker RFA Tiderace.
RFA Tiderace has spent the past six months supporting Royal Navy operations in home waters after a refit in Liverpool, with Susan serving as the tanker’s second-in-command, before stepping up to the number one role aboard last week.
Susan said: “I feel very privileged to have the opportunity of taking command of a vessel of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary – it is a pivotal moment. ....
