Stein believed his views about Brexit had been heavily influenced by his late father Eric Stein. The chef explained that his father suffered from bipolar disorder for years and took his own life at the age of 58, when Stein was 17 years old. Despite his father not being alive for the debate about leaving the EU, Stein believed he would have opposed Brexit. He felt that influence would have originated from his family and history.
