A Pembrokeshire aviation boss whose own life was saved by the Wales Air Ambulance has raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Steve Landrey, 51, has embarked on an epic 186-mile walk to raise thousands of pounds for Wales Air Ambulance and the British Heart Foundation.
Landrey, who worked as European managing director for air ambulance operator, Babcock, collapsed while out cycling with friends. He suffered a cardiac arrest and stopped breathing.
Thankfully the Wales Air Ambulance was able to respond swiftly to the scene and gave Landrey the lifesaving care he needed. ....

Interim allowances have been approved for our councillors

INTERIM allowances for Wellington Shire councillors have been approved.
Until an independent tribunal makes its determination, the mayor and councillors will receive an allowance based on an annual rate of $81,204 and $26,245 respectively.
Both allowances are within the recommended level for ‘category two’ councils, of which Wellington is one 29 across the state.

State-wide lockdown extended by a week | Gippsland Times

VICTORIA’S current lockdown has been extended seven days.
The lockdown was due to last five days, ending at 11.59pm tonight, but Premier Daniel Andrews announced this morning it will continue until 11.59pm next Tuesday night.
Because of the current level of community transmission of coronavirus in Victoria from the recent New South Wales incursions, the current lockdown will be extended and travel to Victoria using red zone permits will be temporarily paused, to ensure stop of spread of the Delta COVID outbreak.
Victoria currently has 85 active cases of COVID-19, with daily cases in double figures, with more than 15,000 primary close contacts in quarantine, and more than 250 exposure sites online stretching from Phillip Island to the Mallee. ....

Housing supply lags in Wellington Shire

WELLINGTON Shire Council is examining issues preventing the supply of residential land in key townships across the shire.
Council has outlined its priority strategic land use planning projects for the 2021-22 financial year, and will implement the recommendations of residential land stocktake workshops and its growth management and economic development strategy.
Two residential land stocktake workshops were held online in May, involving councillors, local developers, builders, real estate agents and statutory authorities.
The workshops looked at infrastructure, land development economics and other issues preventing the supply of residential land in townships across the shire.

Inverloch looks set to be added to Gippsland South electorate

INVERLOCH looks set to be added to the state electoral district of Gippsland South.
The Electoral Boundaries Commission last week released its proposals for Victoria’s 88 lower house districts.
A review of state electoral boundaries is required after two state elections, with the commission aiming to keep the number of electors in each district within 10 per cent of the state-wide average.
At 9.38 per cent below the quota as of November last year, Gippsland South needed to gain electors to ensure it remained within the tolerance for next year’s election.
There were no changes proposed for Gippsland East or Morwell. ....
