VICTORIA will enter its sixth lockdown from 8pm tonight.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced the lockdown will last seven days, with Victorians again only having five reasons to leave home: getting food and essential supplies, exercising for up to two hours, care or caregiving, authorised work or education if it can’t be done from home, or to get vaccinate at the neared possible location.
With suspected Delta cases infectious in the community, as well as high number of associated close contacts and exposure sites, Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has declared stay at home restrictions will be reintroduced.
The new lockdown comes as Victoria was due to see a relaxation of restrictions on Tuesday night. ....

Steps are underway to compulsorily acquire undevelopable beach blocks


NOTICES for the compulsory acquisition of more than 500 coastal land lots have been placed in newspapers.
Wellington Shire Council has not been able to find the owners of the blocks along the 90 Mile Beach, which are not able to be developed.
Six notices of compulsory acquisition, one each for different land groupings, plus a statement of rights and obligations, was published in the Government Gazette and covered two pages of the
Herald Sun on Thursday, as well as today’s
Gippsland Times.
The owners have three months to consider the offer or claim compensation.
It is part of the final stage of the compulsory acquisition process for 704 undevelopable lots, where owners’ addresses are unknown or unable to found, despite extensive searches. ....

VICTORIA’S lockdown will end at midnight tonight, following a reduction in community transmission of coronavirus in the state.
Under the new settings, to be in place for two weeks, Victorians will be able to leave their home for any reason, with the five kilometre travel limit removed.
Restaurants and cafes can open for seated service.
Retail, beauty and personal care will open in line with density limits, as well as entertainment venues and community facilities.
The authorised worker list will no longer apply, meaning businesses and venues can reopen with capacity and density limits of one person per four square metres. ....
