POPLARVILLE, Miss. (PRCC Athletics) - Pearl River menâs basketball standout JarRonn Wilkens (Biloxi) picked up another honor in as many days Wednesday when he was named an NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention.
âI think JaRonn has made the biggest jump from freshmen to sophomore year more than any player Iâve ever coached,â head coach Chris Oney said.
Wilkens is the fifth Wildcat to be named an All-American in the past four years, joining Darral Willis Jr. (Madison, Wis.; Madison Memorial), Brandon Rachal (Natchitoches, La.; Natchitoches-Central), Tae Hardy (Ellenwood, Ga.; Believe Prep) and Isaih Moore (Columbia, S.C.; Sumter).

BOTTOM LINE: Southern Miss is set to meet Rice in the first round of the CUSA tournament. Rice swept the two-game regular season series. The teams last played on Feb. 6, when Southern Miss made just three 3-pointers on 17 attempts while the Owls hit 14 of 32 behind the arc en route to a 76-68 victory.
STEPPING UP: Rice s Quincy Olivari has averaged 16.3 points and 4.8 rebounds while Max Fiedler has put up 10.6 points and 8.6 rebounds. For the Golden Eagles, Tyler Stevenson has averaged 14.2 points and 7.3 rebounds while Tae Hardy has put up 10 points.OUTSTANDING OLIVARI: Olivari has connected on 40.9 percent of the 193 3-pointers he s attempted and has gone 17 for 55 over the last five games. He s also made 81.1 percent of his free throws this season.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) University of Southern Mississippi junior guard Tae Hardy has earned C-USA Player of the Week honors.
Hardy scored a career-high 20 points at Florida International University, with 19 points coming in a second half that also saw him grab four rebounds and hand out four assists.

RUSTON, La. (WDAM) – Tae Hardy’s floater in the lane did everything but go in with 5 seconds to play and two ensuing free throws by Amorie Archibald clinched a 65-62 victory Saturday by Louisiana Tech University over the University of Southern Mississippi.
Jaron Pierre Jr.’s half-court heave at the buzzer clanged off the side of the rim as the Bulldogs held on for the Conference USA win at The Thomas Assembly Center.
