Staff Journalist A Fauquier County Circuit Court judge on Thursday granted bail to a Maryland man charged in a hit-and-run accident last month that killed a 2-year-old girl near Opal.
After a brief hearing Thursday morning, Judge Lon E. Farris ordered the release of José Santiago Mendoza, 65, of Bladensburg, on a $5,000 secured bond.
The defendant will return to Fauquier County General District Court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday, March 24.
