Filing period opens Tuesday in Missouri for April election

The candidate filing period for the April election in Missouri begins Tuesday for positions coming open on Ozark County school and municipal boards, as well as Public Water District #1 in Theodosia and the Ozark County Ambulance District. No terms are expiring on the Ozark County Health Department board.The filing period continues through Jan. 19. The last day to register to vote in the April election is March 10.Those interested in filing for a position on one of the Ozark County boards should contact the respective school, village, or district office. Those planning to file for a school board seat should remember schools will be closed for holiday breaks, and some districts are on a four-day/week schedule. ....

Auburn buildings honored for historic preservation efforts
AUBURN â The Eckhart Public Library and the Auburn City Steakhouse have received Outreach Awards for historic preservation.
ARCH Inc., a historic preservation non-profit in Fort Wayne, has been presenting historic preservation awards for 42 years, but in 2020 the awards include something new.
The inaugural Outreach ARCHie Awards this year make a specific effort to recognize the top historic preservation projects regionally. Traditionally, the ARCHie Awards have focused on Allen County, where ARCH was founded in 1975 and where much of its work has been focused. But as ARCH has grown, it has come to serve all of northeast Indiana. ....

'Not good enough': Ford gov't increasing LTC care standards, but not until 2024-25

Despite the Ford government’s recent attempts to increase standards of care in Ontario’s long-term care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, a co-chair of Pioneer Manor’s Family Council said that while it’s nice, it’s too little too late.
“The announcement about increasing personal care to four hours per day is great,” said Terry Martyn, who also sits on Ontario’s Northeast Family Council Network. ”But it’s all of the other details around it that make absolutely no sense.
“Nothing will come into effect for another four to five years. That’s not good enough. Residents need more care right now.” ....
