Judge Denies Bond Reduction in 2019 Hopkinsville Murder Case


An early 2022 trial date was set in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday for a Hopkinsville man charged in the 2019 shooting of another man following an argument that began in a vehicle.
Judge Andrew Self set a trial date of January 10 with a full week on the calendar set aside to complete the proceedings.
19-year-old Robert Earl Torian III is charged with murder in connection to the August 2019 death of Terrill Moore. Police said Torian and Moore were passengers in a vehicle when an argument began. Torian is accused of shooting Moore in the head after he exited the vehicle.
Before setting the trial date, Judge Self heard a bond reduction motion from Torian’s attorney Hannah Peveler. She requested her client’s bond be reduced from $500,000 since he has been in jail since his arrest and several subsequent court appearances have been continued. ....

Bond reduction denied, trial date set in McHenry St. murder case

A trial date was set and a bond motion was denied Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court in the murder case against Robert Torian.
Torian appeared virtually before Judge Andrew Self with defense attorneys Jason Byrd and Hannah Peveler, who explained the motion was a request for a bond reduction Peveler argued that Torian has been incarcerated for almost two years with multiple delays in the case.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerod Smith argued that negotiations have been stalled by lack of counter offers from the defense and at this time, all lab testing has come back.  Judge Self denied the request for reduction in bond, saying he finds it appropriate due to the seriousness of the charges. ....

Evidence that had been pending in the murder case against Robert Torian, who is accused in the 2019 shooting death of Terrill Moore, has finally come in and the defense requested one more continuance before setting a trial date.
Torian appeared virtually in front of Christian Circuit Judge Andrew Self Wednesday, along with defense attorney Jason Byrd, who informed the court that he has received the last of the evidence that had been sent off for testing now he just needs to time to go over it with his client and decide his plan of action. ....
