STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. As the weather warms and the grilling season kicks into full swing, home cooks might be looking to up their burger game. Chefs around the borough chimed in on advice for making a killer beef patty at home.

The Forest Avenue tradition will not see its 57th year, say organizers.
Former grand marshal and Doc Hennigan’s owner Dr. Craig Campbell said, “The COVID-19 situation prevents us from continuing as we have in the past. And the city is not giving out parade permits.” At the moment, state limits on events of any kinds are still 50 people. A spokesman for the mayor’s office confirmed no permits were being issued at this time. ....

“The last few days have been awful beyond words. Outdoor seating is not a reasonable option for 95% of restaurants or guests for that matter,” said Tom Casatelli, co-owner of The Kettle Black and Ho’Brah.
The Kettle Black maintains a sprawling wooden structure that encompasses approximately four storefronts. Ho’Brah across Forest Avenue, under the same ownership, has a smaller version and also a portable tiki bar. Casatelli said taking all of them down was a source of discussion today among his partners. For now the roadway pieces have become part of the landscape of the neighborhood with concrete bastions flanking either side. ....
