Stephanie Soliven, assistant superintendent for secondary leading and learning, was announced as one of three finalists Friday. Denver Public School District has 93,000 students. It it Colorado s largest school district. Soliven has worked for Brevard Public Schools for 26 years, according to her LinkedIn profile, starting out as a teacher and serving as principal at Cocoa High School before assuming her current post in Jan 2017. Starting in March, an additional 16 schools including elementary and high school locations will receive weekend food bags called PowerSacks that bridge the hunger gap that students experience over the weekends. With the expansion, Food for Thought Denver will now provide 10,000 school children a month with a total of 20,000 PowerSacks (each student receives one for each weekend day).
