Melfort, Prince Albert, Wakaw RCMP service areas changing for quicker response times, balanced workload

Ted Munro, RCMP Superintendent for the Northern District, said the changes come to help make the detachments run a bit more efficiently. He said this change will make for quicker response times for those areas as Prince Albert RCMP has to drive through the city of Prince Albert to respond to those areas.
“When we look at it from the Melfort side,” Munro said. “Melfort detachment does not have to go through a major city, and you’re driving on a rural location, and they can respond quicker.”
Munro added that there were studies done to examine what would be the best way to organize those boundaries for each RCMP detachment. ....

Sask. RCMP adjusts service area for Prince Albert, Melfort and Wakaw detachments

As of Saturday, Saskatchewan RCMP is modifying the areas served by its Prince Albert, Melfort and Wakaw detachments.
In an effort to improve response times, the area served Melfort RCMP will now include the communities of Birch Hills, Crystal Springs, Weldon and surrounding areas.
This modification will result in shorter response times to many residences and businesses,” said Superintendent Ted Munro, Saskatchewan RCMP North District Commander.
“Our police officers won’t have to drive through the City of Prince Albert anymore when responding to calls for service to those communities, which can save as much as ten minutes, Munro said in a news release. ....

The Saskatchewan RCMP and Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) encourage residents to continue following guidance from public health officials and follow public health orders.
“As Saskatchewan’s provincial police force, we will continue to be present in your community to provide services and help to ensure community safety 24 hours a day, seven days a week and throughout the holiday season,” Supt. Ted Munro, of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North District Management Team, said in a news release.
“We continue to work closely with health officials including NITHA to investigate calls for service that violate the (public health orders) to help maintain public health and safety.” ....
