SEATTLE Sunday’s violence in Seattle comes days after Mayor Jenny Durkan laid out a plan to address gun violence, and adds frustration for those who have been fighting to help those caught in the cycle.
As Seattle police continued working their investigations into multiple shootings that left three dead and five injured, volunteers in Seattle s Central District Community continued their work as well, building relationships in the community to try and keep peace on the streets. ....

The Australian public dis-service | The Spectator Australia

Former US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld once quipped: “You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.” Well, if Australia had to go to war with the Australian Public Service, we may as well surrender now.
According to the Australian:
One of the country’s most accomplished and respected public servants has lashed the political class for being idle on economic reform during the past decade and for striving to stoke fear for partisan advantage, while also turning international relationships into a tool for domestic political gain. ....

Each run scored by a tail-ender has the same worth as one scored by a recognised batsman, and sometimes more when it entertains spectators, frustrates opponents or lifts team-mates’ spirits. ....

What the Abilene Reporter-News liked and disliked: Almost $2M

What the Abilene Reporter-News liked and disliked: Almost $2M

How about $1.95 million, then? That s what folks here poured into the fifth Abilene Gives, again obliterating the record. Donors were willing to support Camp Able, which took in an individual record of $112,000. The zoo totaled the most donors with 230. A total of 32 nonprofits took in at last $20,000. Lots of love flowed Tuesday as Abilene showed us the money!
