SEATTLE Sunday’s violence in Seattle comes days after Mayor Jenny Durkan laid out a plan to address gun violence, and adds frustration for those who have been fighting to help those caught in the cycle.
As Seattle police continued working their investigations into multiple shootings that left three dead and five injured, volunteers in Seattle s Central District Community continued their work as well, building relationships in the community to try and keep peace on the streets.

KING COUNTY, Wash. - Firearm violence in King County rose exponentially in 2020 and has not stopped in 2021, according to a report released by the prosecuting attorney s office.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney s Office on Thursday released its Shots Fired report a collection of data analysis showing reported shootings in King County.
In just the first six months of 2021, the number of fatal shooting victims was up 48% while nonfatal shooting victims was up 65% over a four-year average for the same period between 2017-2020, according to the report.

A new report indicates that King County continues to see an increase in gun violence in the first half of 2021, after an increase of nearly 200 incidents over that same period last year.
In total, the county identified 580 total shots fired incidents in the first two quarters of 2021. That marked an increase of roughly 33% over the four-year average between 2017 and 2020. There was also a 61% increase in shooting victims.
