WORTHINGTON Over his 32 years as an officer with the Worthington Police Department, Kirk Honius says one of his goals has always been to have a positive interaction with every member of the public he meets.
When the Fulda native graduated from high school, he didn t know what he wanted to do for a career, but he went to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall to try to figure it out. After three years in college, he decided to try out law enforcement, and went to Willmar for a two-year program.

WORTHINGTON As the “Amazing” Worthington City Band heads into its last stretch of concerts for July, it tackles a range of music at tonight’s 7:30 p.m. concert in Centennial Park.
Led by director Mike Anderson, the band’s selections include Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4,” “The Candy Man” from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” the Big Band tune “Sentimental Journey” and a lower brass feature entitled “Them Basses.”
Serving as emcee will be Worthington’s public safety director Troy Appel, while Kalea Appel will provide intermission entertainment.

WORTHINGTON The Worthington City Council on Monday approved an application from the Worthington Area Youth Baseball Association (WAYBA) to sell 3.2 beer during Junior Legion, Legion and Amateur ballgames from May through August of this year.
