Link proposed allowing Glen Carbon to temporarily hire above its authorized manning and extend an offer of employment to Alton Police Officer Aaron Porter, the top candidate on Glen Carbon’s lateral hire list of police officers. ”Lateral hire candidates are in great demand throughout this region,” Link said in his request. “Hiring them saves communities time and expense because lateral candidates are already certified police officers in good standing, do not require academy training and often complete field training and probationary periods at a quicker rate than their non-police trained counterparts.” ....

Police Chief Todd Link requested two cameras to cover north and southbound Illinois 157 immediately south of the Interstate 270 overpass. ....
Link EDWARDSVILLE - Patrick Ferrari of Glen Carbon filed suit against the village and police chief Todd Link on Jan. 28, claiming $5,109,640 in damages for harassment, intimidation, false arrests, and malicious prosecutions. Along with Link he sued village administrator Jamie Bowden, village attorney James Schrempf, administrative assistant Melissa Millard, utility superintendent John Leezy, and mayor Robert Jackstadt. Ferrari filed his complaint at circuit court without counsel. He claims he went to village hall because the village turned off his water while his family was out of town dealing with a death in the family, and that the village charged him $100 to turn the water back on. ....
