Garff MHK declares intention to stand for re-election A sitting MHK for Garff has declared her intention to stand in September s general election. Daphne Caine has represented the constituency in the House of Keys since 2016. She lists her priorities as education, the environment and Island infrastructure, especially roads and flood mitigation . Mrs Caine is a member of the Department for Enterprise and political lead of Digital Isle of Man. If re-elected she hopes to focus on better social and environmental policies that benefit more people and a speedier adoption of renewable energy. The Isle of Man General Election will be held on Thursday 23 September 2021. ....
Daphne Caine to stand for re-election Mon, 10 May 2021 Daphne Caine has declared her intention to stand for re-election in Garff. Maughold resident Mrs Caine, who has represented the constituency since 2016, said her priorities are education, the environment and island infrastructure, especially roads and flood mitigation. Mrs Caine confirmed she will stand again as an independent candidate. She said: ‘I was late to declare five years ago and I hope by announcing early that I will have more time to get around the whole constituency and hear directly from people what their priorities and concerns are. ‘I have worked constantly on a wide variety of constituency issues both before and during the pandemic, and I’m aware many face uncertain times as we come out of the health crisis. ....
Bunscoill Rhumsaa confirms Covid-19 case in school Headteacher writes to parents The headteacher of a primary school in Ramsey has confirmed a case of Covid-19 has been detected within their school. David Jenkins from Bunscoill Rhumsaa has written to ‘parents, carers and friends’ to inform them of the development. The individual is said to be ‘well’ and is currently self-isolating – the school is in contact with Public Health and further information will be shared in due course. Earlier today it was revealed five new cases of the virus have been detected over the last 24 hours.
