MORE than half of the staff who have worked on a Covid-19 ward at the Dudley Group of hospitals felt ill due to work-related stress amid the coronavirus crisis, according to an NHS survey. The annual NHS Staff Survey 2020 has revealed the toll of the pandemic on staff at trusts across England. At the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital and the Corbett and Guest Outpatient Centres, almost 54 per cent of staff looking after Covid patients said they had felt unwell as a result of work-related stress in the last 12 months. While 58.3 per cent of staff who had worked on a Covid ward said they had attended work in the last three months despite not feeling well enough to perform their duties - despite guidance stating people should stay at home and isolate if unwell to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The latest figures are out THE number of recorded coronavirus cases in Dudley increased by 64 over the weekend, official figures show. Public Health England figures show that 25,903 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (March 15) in Dudley, up from 25,839 the same time on Friday. The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government s mass testing programme. The rate of infection in Dudley now stands at 8,055 cases per 100,000 people, higher than the England average of 6,630.

NHS England figures show 712 people had died in hospital at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm yesterday (Sunday March 7). That was an increase of seven compared to Friday, when there were 705. It means there have been 14 deaths in the past week, up from 11 the previous week. The victims were among 17,428 deaths recorded across the midlands, which is the worst affected of England s seven NHS regions. Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.
