Dudley's hospital trust backs organ donation campaign

Rubery student helps in vaccination roll-out

Six Health and Social care students have been successful in getting paid roles working in vaccination centres. Anjeli Maharaj, aged 18, from Rubery, is joined by others being employed buy the Dudley Group of hospitals. The others are: Alice Mills-Adams, Thomas Pegg, Kiran Akhtar, Daniel Sault, and Charlotte Baker, aged 17 to 19 from Dudley and Sandwell. Charlotte said: “I applied so I could make some sort of contribution in helping other health care professionals fight against the disease.” Sarah Hale, from Halesowen College, said: “Thank you to all of these students – we are very proud of you! They will get some excellent experience which will definitely help them in future careers.”

A further 1,189 have died with the virus in the region s care homes. In figures announced by NHS England on Thursday, a further 630 coronavirus patients died in the country s hospitals, taking the total to 74,249. Seventeen deaths were recorded at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the death toll now stands at 959. Four deaths were announced at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs the main hospitals in Stafford and Stoke, where there has now been 1,222 deaths.

Students helping to roll-out vaccine across Dudley

Students from across Dudley are helping to open mass vaccination centres around the area. The Health and Social care students have been successful in getting paid roles working in vaccination centres opened by Dudley Group of Hospitals. Alice Mills-Adams, Thomas Pegg, Kiran Akhtar, Daniel Sault, Anjeli Maharaj and Charlotte Baker have started their shifts at different sites. Groups team up in bid to save Amblecote's Corbett Meadow

The field to the rear of Vicarage Road, Amblecote, where new homes could be built. TWO Stourbridge community groups have joined forces to try to save an untouched oasis for wildlife in Amblecote to try to keep it safe from development for future generations. The Save The Corbett Meadow Action Group and Stourbridge Community Land Trust are looking to work together to protect Corbett Meadow and to see it managed for public benefit in the future. Located behind Corbett Outpatients Centre, the meadow is part of land that was gifted to the people of Stourbridge in 1892 by John Corbett for the building of a hospital.
