Grand Rapids Community College is offering two sessions of Bridges to College Raider Ready this summer to help graduating high school seniors get ready for college. The free program is open to 2020 high school graduates or 2021 graduating seniors who plan to attend college in the fall. ....
HOLLAND A free event is coming to Tulip Time 2021. The festival s Tulip Time Scavenger Hunt launched Wednesday, April 28, with an announcement on social media. Families can download the clue sheet and answers at tuliptime.com/scavenger-hunt. The scavenger hunt can be completed throughout the festival at the leisure of visitors. The answers to all 18 clues can be found in the space between Sixth Street and 12 Street; and Pine Avenue and Columbia Avenue. Clues include Holland s first church, Holland s founding father and one of Holland s first fire stations. Hunters may need to count pillars, name musical instruments or locate historical dates. ....

(Listen to the full podcast.) Beyond poverty: Families struggled to make ends meet before pandemic. Those struggling to make ends meet aren’t always who you think. The biennial ALICE report shows many were struggling to make ends meet before the pandemic. Memorial parade canceled, ceremony still on. To protect aging veterans and others who usually attend the Holland Memorial Day parade, the event has been canceled. However, a socially distanced ceremony is still planned. ....
Tulip Time shares information on food vendors, limited-edition gift boxes HOLLAND Organizers are finding new ways for visitors to experience Tulip Time this year. The festival s regular food vendors are rolling back into town, and customers will be able to enjoy their snacks while sitting in specified eating areas. Each table is limited to six people. Hand-washing stations will be available and eating areas will be continuously cleaned throughout the day. Food vendors will be located in three sections on Eighth Street between the Holland Area Arts Council and Knickerbocker Theatre; on Central Avenue between Ninth Street and Tenth Street; and near Holland Civic Center Place. ....
