Hagen was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. Thursday at Sherman Hospital, according to the Kane County coroner s office. The coroner is waiting for results of carbon monoxide testing before declaring a preliminary cause of death, according to a news release.
The fire was reported at 6:31 a.m. in a townhouse in the 0-100 block of Creekside Circle. Firefighters found heavy fire in a second-floor unit. They located Hagen and took him to the hospital. ....

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Douglas Hagen by the Kane County coroner’s office. Firefighters were called about 6:30 a.m. and found a heavy fire on the second floor, the department said. Crews found Hagen in the building and took him in critical condition to Sherman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
