Mobile Vaccination Unit
The Mobile Vaccination Units (MVU) were launched by the State of Nevada, FEMA, and local partners to bring COVID-19 vaccines to rural areas. The units will be providing the single-dose Janssen vaccine to walk-up registrants on a first-come, first-served vases. The Janssen vaccine has been authorized for use in those 18 years and older.
The MVU will be coming to the Quad-County Region:
Douglas County
Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center (3939 Carter Dr, Wellington)
Lyon County
Lyon County Human Services (620 Lake St, Silver Springs)

Testing is for Quad-County (Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey County) residents

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Douglass Park has been a centerpiece of the Martindale-Brightwood community. Named after abolitionist Frederick Douglass, it was created as a safe recreational place for Black people when they weren’t allowed to go anywhere else.
Even today there’s a lot of value in feeling safe in your community. For generations Douglass Park provided that. Community members said back then more people followed the idea: it takes a village to raise a child. And Douglass Park provided the village.
There are memories and a legacy buried deep in the Douglass Park’s soil. For 100 years now, it has taken root in young people, making them a part of it’s rich history. ....

The Golden Hobby Gift Shop, forced to leave its German Village location, will establish temporary new digs in the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Ave. in downtown Columbus.
The nonprofit consignment shop for senior citizens crafts, which closed last March, is taking over three office spaces, a dance studio, a hallway and one storage room at the performing-arts center sometime this spring, said Geoffrey Martin, arts administrator for the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, which operates Golden Hobby.
Golden Hobby Gift Shop spent more than four decades at 630 S. Third St. It was forced to relocate when the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department sold its 9,500-square-foot building to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus for a reported $1.23 million. ....

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Companies across the Mid-south are honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through MLK Days of Service events.
On Friday, MLGW gave back to their customers.
The utility company handed out free energy kits through a mobile drive-thru event at Douglass Community Center.
J.T. Young, president and CEO of MLGW says this act of service is about helping customers become more energy efficient.
“We want to make sure that customers understand how important it is to do what they can to save energy,” said Young. “We want to do what we can to help relieve the energy burden with our customers, and this is just a small way that we can do that to help customers.” ....
