“The boardwalk removal is part of the park renovation project, but it was expedited because of damages from Hurricane Sally” last September, Fort Walton Beach spokesman Doug Rainer said Thursday. “The actual renovation project can’t begin until final permits are issued by the Army Corps of Engineers. The Fort Walton Beach Fire Department was assisted by the Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District and Okaloosa Island Fire Department. Early detection of the fire and a quick response reportedly played a substantial role in mitigating damage to the business. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a small section outside of the building and used a ladder to ensure the fire had not spread to the roof. ....

Coons says his office has been getting numerous complaints about delays affecting businesses and individuals. The problems seem to be especially serious in southern Delaware. Both the Cape Gazette and Delmarva Farmerreported delivery delays with their print products. Here and elsewhere, consumers had reported bills being mailed earlier but got hit with late charges when the mail was delivered weeks later, if at all. The problems have been building over the decades due to the lack of needed reforms that include huge losses and a requirement that pension obligations be paid upfront. ....
