Polis vetoes 2 bills, administratively signs 19 more


Gov. Jared Polis on Friday issued his second and third vetoes of bills from the 2021 legislative session, killing proposals from Colorado Springs lawmakers on titling procedures and sales tax requirements for off-highway vehicle transfers, and updating a technical error from a 2019 bill on transportation infrastructure projects funding.
Polis also signed into law 19 bills ranging from a bipartisan proposal to create a kidney disease prevention and education task force (House Bill 1171) to a measure stripping homeowner’s associations from blocking residents from displaying political signs and flags based on their content. House Bill 1310 from Democratic Rep. Lisa Cutter of Littleton and Sen. Robert Rodriguez of Denver updates state law, which previously allowed political signs in HOAs 45 days before an election and seven days after. ....

Lauren Boebert challenger from Pueblo wins backing from progressive group


The progressive Working Families Party on Monday endorsed Pueblo activist Sol Sandoval in the Democratic primary for the 3rd Congressional District seat held by Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert.
Calling Sandoval an incredible, proven community organizer and leader, Wendy Howell, director of the Working Families Party s Colorado affiliate, said the former social worker is the strongest candidate to take on Boebert in next year s election.
“Sol Sandoval has two decades of experience fighting for those our state and nation have left behind, Howell said in a statement. Colorado House panel advances $75M broadband expansion proposal, largest stimulus bill to date


A House panel on Tuesday advanced a $75 million proposal to build out the state’s broadband infrastructure, the largest state stimulus bill to begin working through the legislative process.
House Bill 21-1289 from Reps. Chris Kennedy, D-Lakewood, and Mark Baisley, R-Roxborough Park, divvies up the appropriation by sending:
$35 million through the Broadband Deployment Board at the state Department of Regulatory Affairs for so-called “last mile” projects to link telecommunication networks to users’ homes;
$5 million to the Interconnectivity Grant Program Fund in the Department of Local Affairs to fund so-called “middle mile” projects linking the last mile to a telecommunication network operator’s core network; ....
