A 10-run sixth inning boosted the Cape baseball team past Sussex Central 15-7 April 20 at Chris Short Field. The Vikings move to 8-1 on the season.
The game was back and forth throughout the first five innings before the Golden Knights took a 7-5 lead with four runs in the top of the sixth inning. Then enter Cape freshman Gage Joseph, who delivered a triple to clear the bases. He went 2-for-4 in the game, driving in seven RBIs. The Vikings sent 16 players to the plate in the sixth.

The Cape boys’ swim team moved to 6-0 on the season in a 101-69 victory over Caesar Rodney Jan. 29 at the Milford Boys & Girls Club. The Caesar Rodney girls nipped the Lady Vikings 86-84. Cape is now 4-2 on the season.
Cape’s medley relay team of Thomas Weeks, Brian Fleming, Josh Turek and Josh Reinhold took first in 1:47.38. Turek followed with a time of 1:59.78 for first place in the 200 freestyle. Reinhold took top honors in the 50 freestyle in 23.41. Fleming won the 100 fly in 59.09. Marcus Gromofsky won the 100 free in 51.09. Reinhold, Gromofsky, L.B. Harrington and Aaron Senturk won the 200 free relay in 1:36.72. Gromofsky continued to dominate the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.55. Fleming, Turek, Thomas Weeks and Gromofsky finished the meet with a time of 3:37.34 to win the 400 free relay.

The Cape and Sussex Academy swim teams split the meet at the Sussex Academy Aquatic Center Jan. 25. The Cape boys got the better of the Seahawks 91-79, while the Sussex Academy girls bested the Lady Vikings 94-76.
Cape’s boys’ 200 medley relay team of Thomas Weeks, Josh Turek, Brian Fleming and Josh Reinhold took top honors in 1:48.14. Turek followed with a first-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.50. Reinhold won the 50 free in 23.55. Weeks won the 500 free in 5:28.38, while the Vikings’ 200 free relay team of Reinhold, Marcus Gromofsky, L.B. Harrington and Aaron Senturk garnered first. The Cape swim teams moved to 2-0 on the season Jan. 18, topping Sanford at the Sussex Academy Aquatic Center.
The girls took a 101-21 victory, while the boys swam past the Warriors 93-62.
Cape’s 200 medley relay team of Alissa Silva, Amaya Daisey, Aya Daisey and Erin Morrissey took first with a time of 2:08.25. Heidi Simmons won the 200 free in 2:20.15. Amaya Daisey won the individual medley in 2:34.43. Aya Daisey took first in the 50 free with a time of 26.25. Aya Daisey won the 100 fly in 1:04.39. Erin Morrissey won the 100 free with a time of 1:00.62. Julie Heffernan won the 500 free in 6:07.35. Daisey, Daisey, Morrissey and Anna Sullivan won the 200 free relay in 1:59.99.
