Two years after having been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting a 10-year-old girl, the man accused of her murder was taken into intensive care due to a fight at the Lower Buckeye Jail in Phoenix, according to a statement from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Josh Gonzalez, 22, remains in the ICU after he got into an “altercation” with another inmate on March 27, the statement said on Sunday. The statement read that MCSO jail crime detectives were investigating the incident. It was April 3, 2019, when a driver in a white truck shot at Summer Bell Brown and her family while they parked their car in their driveway. Summer and her father had been shot and taken to a hospital, where Summer later died. ....

Maricopa County sheriff’s officials say Josh Gonzalez was still in an intensive care unit Monday following an altercation at the Lower Buckeye Jail. Sheriff’s spokesman Joaquin Enriquez said it was not known how long Gonzalez would remain hospitalized. He did not give details on his injuries. Gonzalez is accused of shooting and killing Summer Brown in April 2019. Police say he followed the girl’s family car after her father allegedly cut him off.
