Company plans to focus on remodels while ramping up loyalty programs, digital menuboard use Restaurant Brands International (RBI) is doubling down on its remodeling efforts at Burger King, scaling up its digital initiatives across all of its brands and continuing to explore menu innovation opportunities, executives said during the company’s second-quarter earnings call on Friday. “Digital is a key focus area as we enhance the omnichannel guest experience with loyalty and other initiatives to form deeper, long-term relationships with our guests,” said José Cil, CEO of RBI. “In our home markets, digital sales are up 60% year-on-year, and we think this is just the beginning.” ....

And fast-food restaurants, including McDonald’s and Burger King, found answers by investing in their loyalty programs. These chains have two goals in mind with these programs to give customers a reason to come back (and boost sales) as well as to collect first-party data. Most of these loyalty programs are in mobile apps, where customers must provide email addresses and zip codes to receive their perks. McDonald’s and Burger King, with MyMcDonald’s Rewards and Royal Perks, respectively, rolled out their loyalty programs in February. Customers earn points for every dollar they spend at the fast-food chains, which can be redeemed for qualifying menu items, or upgrades in drink sizes or sides. ....

The Toronto-based owner of the Tim Hortons and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen quick-service brands, which reported earnings for the first quarter ended March 31, cited breakfast as a long-term growth opportunity for its Burger King brand in the United States. “It s already a decent size part of the Burger King business contributing roughly 13% of our overall sales with much of that tied to our delicious Croissan wich,” said José Cil, RBI CEO, said in a first-quarter earnings call Friday. ....
