View Comments MANSFIELD - A 34-year-old city man could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of raping a girl under age 10. Andrew Daugherty has been indicted on two counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery, two counts of gross sexual imposition and four counts of endangering children. The Richland County Prosecutor s Office released details Wednesday about the April sessions of the grand jury. First Assistant Prosecutor Jodie Schumacher said the alleged sexual offenses happened between February 2016 and February 2019. The endangering children charges refer to the girl and other children, Schumacher said, and happened between February 2016 and July 2020. ....
MANSFIELD - A 54-year-old city man has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with a car versus pedestrian crash last June. Clayton Blue was indicted on four counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular homicide. The Richland County Prosecutor s Office released information Friday from the March sessions of the grand jury. Around midnight June 19, Blue was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata northbound on Interstate 71 in Washington Township when the crash occurred. Jason Greene-Smith, 22, of Youngstown, was attempting to cross I-71 when he was struck, according to a previous press release from the Ohio Highway Patrol s Mansfield post. ....

Letter: Wooster softball coaching change unfair to players The Daily Record This is in regard to the recent Wooster High School softball coaching change. In December 2020, Coach Rich Seigenthaler s contract was not renewed by the Wooster Athletics Department. The department stated it was because they have decided to move in another direction. Upon conversations with Athletic Director Joe Rubino it was communicated to me that coach Seigenthaler had done nothing immoral or illegal that lead to his dismissal. Many parents expressed their dissatisfaction with this decision and it went before the school board and the superintendent of Wooster City Schools who upheld the decision. ....
