Former Ontario regional chief RoseAnne Archibald only 39 votes from becoming first woman to lead the AFN
OTTAWA- The Assembly of First Nations is headed into a sixth round of voting after neither RoseAnne Archibald or Reginald Bellerose garnered enough votes to take the leadership.
RoseAnne Archibald took 205 votes and 50.5% of the votes cast. Reginald Bellerose took 144 votes and 35.5 % of the vote.
Archibald now has a significant lead heading into the sixth round and is closer to becoming the first woman to lead the national organization before the night is over. Archibald is also the first woman to lead the Chiefs of Ontario. ....

The vote for a new Assembly of First Nations National (AFN) Chief is headed to a second round of voting with no one garnering the 60% of votes required to win an election that is currently being led by one vote by former Muskowekwan First Nation Chief Reginald Bellerose with 91 votes followed by former Ontario Regional Chief RoseAnne Archibald with 90 votes.

AFN national chief election goes to third ballot

OTTAWA
The virtual election for national chief of the Assembly of First Nations was headed to a third ballot Wednesday night, after two rounds of voting failed to see any of the candidates reach the necessary 60 per cent threshold of support.
The two front-runners after both rounds of voting, held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, were Reginald Bellerose of Saskatchewan and RoseAnne Archibald of Ontario.
Both candidates were in a virtual dead heat after each of the two rounds.
After the first ballot, they were tied at 24 per cent of votes cast with just one vote separating them. ....
