Community Roundup: Wolcott Keeper s House to open July 10 Submitted Wolcott Keeper s House to open July 10 MARBLEHEAD - The Wolcott Keeper’s House, 9999 Bayshore Road, will celebrate a delayed but festive start to its 2021 season on July 10. The Port Clinton Rotary Club Perch Wagon will be on site to offer sandwiches and sides, and the Ottawa County Historical Society s History Speaks group will entertain with authentic stories of local heritage. The House, home of the Danbury Peninsula’s first lighthouse keeper, Benajah Wolcott, will be open for docent-led tours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10 as will the adjacent museum and gift shop, and the Wolcott family cemetery. ....

The Rockets won the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division, finishing with 166 points. Margaretta was second with 124 points, followed by Edison (116), Huron (113), Willard (71) and Port Clinton (47). “I think all year long they felt a little pressure from Huron and Margaretta. In our eyes, it was going to be a really close meet. They were really making us wonder if we could win this year,” said Oak Harbor coach John McKitrick. “This senior class didn’t want to be the ones that lost the streak. Everybody did their job.” ....
Submitted PCHS names Top Ten students, Honored Educators PORT CLINTON - The Top Ten Students of Port Clinton High School and the other Ottawa County High Schools usually attended the annual Ottawa County Top Ten Banquet with their honored educators. This year, PCHS Top Ten and honored educators were recognized in the PCHS Performing Arts Center on April 28. An honored educator is a person in the educational system who the student has been profoundly influenced by and who they choose to honor. Clyde girls nip Port Clinton, 55-49 FROM STAFF REPORTS Port Clinton was unable to cut into Clyde’s lead enough in the fourth quarter, and the Redskins fell to the Fliers, 55-49. Clyde led 26-23 at halftime and pushed the advantage to 41-31 after three quarters. Sidney Hohman had 20 points to lead all scorers, including eight in the fourth quarter. Da’Cariya Lanier led Port Clinton with 16 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, and Olivia Jackson finished with 15 points, six of which came in the final quarter. Margaretta 82, Port Clinton 47 Margaretta took control from the outset and defeated Port Clinton, 82-47. The Polar Bears led 24-11 after one quarter and 48-21 at halftime. ....
