Jamestown School Board Fills Unexpired City Seat Term

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School Board voted Thursday to fill an unexpired city seat term on the school board through the 2022 school year.
After two-tie votes and discussions, the board voted and approved Dan Tweten to fill the unexpired term on a 5 to 3 vote. The other candidate was Mindi Schmitz.
Following the vote, Board member Jason Rohr stated he would like to hear from future potential candidates if the board were to be faced with the challenge of filling an unexpired term again.
Four school board seats will be up for election next summer.
In other school board business, the board moved to approve the Teacher’s Master Agreement for 2021-2023, the Non-teaching professionals contract, Support Wage Schedule, and the teachers, support staff, and Jamestown Hub Handbook. ....

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s Sensory Garden Taskforce is planning a spring installation of a new seating area near the sensory garden’s water feature.
“With the construction of the water feature, we realized we needed a seating area on the west side of the water feature,” said Paulette Ritter, Co-chair of the Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Committee, one of the members of the Sensory Garden’s taskforce. ....

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Arizona Department of Health Services approved a recreational sale of marijuana license for Jameston Center Dispensary in Yuma County Friday.
But don t expect to make recreational purchases just yet. Although approved, Jamestown Center is still awaiting the license needed per employee to begin the sale recreationally.
One management member with the dispensary told News 11 that the packaging and production of recreational sales will also take some time because they will differ from what medicinal products look like. ....

PHOENIX The Arizona Department of Health Services announced Friday it has approved licenses for 86 facilities to begin selling recreational marijuana in the state.
Proposition 207 was passed by voters in the November election, allowing adults (aged 21 or older) to possess one ounce of marijuana and the recreational use of it in the state.
ADHS said Friday morning it had received 79 applications since the application period began early Wednesday. An application approval means the dispensaries can begin selling recreational marijuana as soon as they re ready to. ....
