Scotland Yard DCI who inspired Prime Suspect cries as she recalls abuse after fighting corruption


Former Detective Chief Inspector Jackie Malton, 70, was speaking in new BBC documentary series Bent Coppers.
The three-episode series tells the story of institutionalised corruption in the Metropolitan and City of London police in the 1970s.
Ms Malton retired from the Met in 1997 after a 30-year career before going on to advise producers of police television shows.
Prime Suspect creator Lynda La Plante spoke to Ms Malton for hours to create no-nonsense officer DCI Jane Tennison.
The character was portrayed by Helen Mirren in the long-running show before La Plante released a book of the same name.
Speaking in the final Bent Coppers episode, which airs tonight, she told how everybody just stood up and walked out after she entered the police canteen following the suspension of a fellow officer suspected of planting drugs on suspects. ....

CFTC: Federal Court Orders Oregon Owner Of Precious Metals Firm To Pay $1.3 Million To Victims Of Fraudulent Precious Metals Scheme

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington entered a consent order against Aaron Michael Scott of Portland, Oregon for fraud and misappropriation in connection with a precious metals scheme run by Scott and his now defunct company, BMC Worldwide, Inc. (d/b/a Blue Moon Coins).  The order requires Scott to pay $1,381,461.86 in restitution to defrauded customers. Additionally, the order prohibits Scott from further violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC Regulations and permanently bans him from registering with the CFTC and trading in any commodity interests. ....

The unofficial results for the general municipal election in Newton County, Missouri, with all 24 precincts reporting, are in.
During the November elections, the citizens of Neosho approved changing the number of City Council members from five to seven and established four wards. Of the five current council members, Mayor Carmin Allen and Councilman Tom Workman’s terms both end in Apr. 2021 and neither filed for reelection.
The openings are in Ward 1 for a three-year term, Ward 2 for a two-year term, Ward 3 for a two-year term and a general At Large opening for a three-year term that will be voted on by all four voting precincts.  ....
