Stories designed to win an argument rarely make for effective entertainment. A case in point: the historical dramatization “Roe v. Wade” (Quiver). Good intentions can only partially sustain this re-creation of events surrounding the landmark 1973 Supreme Court case that legalized abortion across the United States. So even those movie fans most committed to the cause of life will be unable to overlook its aesthetic shortcomings.

Actor from New Bedford appears on NCIS New Orleans as street poet

NEW BEDFORD A local actor left it all behind in New Bedford to follow his acting dreams in New Orleans, and on Sunday he got his first win with an appearance on “NCIS: New Orleans.” “Definitely a cool feeling,” Earl Lee White, 32, said about his Sunday night appearance. The New Bedford native said it has been non-stop on his social media since the scene aired on CBS. White is billed as a Street Poet in the 10th episode of season seven in the spin-off drama around military criminal cases in The Big Easy a role White says wasn’t too far off from himself. “I used to do music and poetry and stuff like that, and I kind of know how that is,” he said. “I just wouldn’t wear those loud of colors.”
