Council gets project updates, talks storm damage

The Norman City Council received an update on several quality of life projects, storm damage and the outlook for construction this year amid rising costs for materials.
Ahead of future park improvement projects, residents will see construction begin on the proposed Senior Wellness Center and the Indoor Aquatics and Multi-Sport Center.
Financial Services Director Anthony Francisco said Tuesday night that the two projects are ânearing the starting line of dirt flying and construction starting.â
The senior center will be located at the southeast corner of N. Findlay Avenue and E. Rich Street, and is part of the voter-approved Norman Forward Sales Tax. ....

The Well on schedule for fall opening

Crews work Thursday on construction at the site of The Well.
A Cleveland County wellness project is on schedule to open in September as construction crews finished laying the steel on the two-story community building earlier this month.
Last Thursday, Cleveland County held a topping out ceremony, a celebration of laying the final steel beam in the frame of the 14,000-square foot wellness center.
The Well, located in downtown Norman on the 200 block of James Garner Avenue, will be home to a Norman Regional Health Clinic, fitness classes, cooking classes and eventually, the Norman Farm Market in 2022.
A part of Cleveland Countyâs Master Plan signed by Cleveland County commissioners in September 2017, The Well is intended to be an all-in-one destination, said Melody Bays, executive director of The Well. ....

Norman Christmas Holiday Parade set Saturday
