Two Pomerene nurses present with DAISY Award in recognition of their patient care


MILLERSBURG  A pair of Pomerene Hospital nurses were honored with the DAISY Award, an honor bestowed upon nurses in an effort to thank them for the work they do.
The compassionate care provided by nurses Kristi Schrock and Natalie Kolp resulted in the award, of which recipients are nominated by patients. Schrock and Kolp provide best-in-class patient care as well as represent the highest level of professionalism and compassion as nurses every day, according to the patients review.
Schrock was nominated for the special work she did with a patient who came in for dilation and curettage (D&C), a procedure after the patient had a miscarriage. She commended Schrock for taking extra time to be with her and bring her out of a very dark place. ....

Pomerene hospital Covid-19 Moderna vaccination healthcare workers


MILLERSBURG  Pomerene Hospital received its first direct allocation of 100 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and administered them Tuesday to front line health care staff who face the greatest risk of exposure to the virus.
Nursing staff, respiratory therapists, emergency department personnel, laboratory technicians, phlebotomists and other employees who are involved with direct patient care were vaccinated.
I am very pleased for Pomerene s front line staff to be given access to the COVID-19 vaccine.” said Jason Justus, CEO of Pomerene Hospital. “Our entire team of care givers deserve the opportunity to receive the added safety and health protection the vaccine provides for themselves, their families, and our patients. I am optimistic the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine will be a turning point for our organization, our community, and for the state of Ohio. ....
