North Royalton to accept police, firefighter applicants from those working in other communities Bob Sandrick, cleveland.com NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio – The city later this year hopes to start accepting job applications from police officers and firefighters already trained and employed in other communities. They’re known as “lateral transfers.” City Council, through legislation approved in February, has asked the North Royalton Civil Service Commission to write new rules for police and firefighter transfers from other jurisdictions. “This would open a bigger pool of (police and fire) candidates,” Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz said. “We’re seeing a dwindling number of men and women taking civil service tests for these positions. ....
