Hudson Reporter Group show “agency” to honor Black History and Women’s History months × Catalina Aranguren, founder of Walk-Bye by Argia Photography, brings her latest community art installation to life in partnership with the Jersey City Public Library. The group show exhibition “agency” will showcase original work by New Jersey artists with an unveiling at the Five Corners Library at 4 p.m. on March 1. The show, inspired by Black History Month and Women’s History Month, displays New Jersey artists’ representation of “agency” and embraces intersectionality in community. Using photography, poetry, paint and Legos, the artists explore the individual’s intrinsic agency, or belief in self and awareness of one’s rights and power within. ....
Jersey City library director leaving to take post in Ohio Updated Feb 25, 2021; Facebook Share Spoiler alert: This chapter of the Jersey City Free Public Library story ends with the director quitting to take a similar post in his Ohio hometown. Dayton, Ohio officials announced Jeffrey Trzeciak as the new library director there on Tuesday after serving 15 months as head of the Jersey City library system. Trzeciak replaced Priscilla Gardner, who the main branch is named for after her 17 years as director. “Director Trzeciak has been an exceptional leader for JCFPL during an incredibly challenging time,” library spokesman Shane Smith. “We are grateful for all the good work he has helped the library do for the community during COVID. The staff and board of the Jersey City Public Library wish Jeffrey the best in Dayton and all his future endeavors.” ....

Plenty if you ask Jersey City Public Library Director Jeffery Trzeciak. It’s amazing that in the 21 century, libraries, the repositories of all knowledge and print, have still managed to sustain themselves in the digital age. But, from fighting systemic racism to expanding offerings, the library even in this time of COVID has grown to help better serve the Jersey City community, Trzeciak said. Trzeciak became director of the Jersey City library in November 2019, and moved to the city a year ago with his husband, Michael. Born and raised in Dayton, OH, Trzeciak attended a small public school that didn’t have its own library. So, the teachers from the school would walk the students a few blocks over to Dayton’s public library. ....
