New radio play dramatizes terror attack at Black Tom

On the morning of July 30, 1916, one of the largest artificial non-nuclear explosions took place in Jersey City when German saboteurs destroyed a U.S. munitions depot on Black Tom Island.
Playwright Martin Casella’s “Black Tom Island,” based on the actual incident and seen through the lens of a fictionalized Slovak immigrant and his wife, who may or may not have been involved in the attack, has now been adapted into a radio play by Art House Productions and is available for download.

Based on an actual incident that took place in Jersey City in 1916, Black Tom Island explores the first documented terrorist attack on American soil through the lens of a fictionalized Slovak immigrant and his wife who may or may not be involved in the attack.
