The area near Surajpur collectorate was waterlogged on Wednesday Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to redesign roads and drainage networks around Surajpur collectorate that gets flooded almost every year. The work will start after this monsoon, officials said. The development authority has been facing a lot of criticism for not being able to prevent flooding in the area and other busy parts of the city. Although GNIDA had claimed it had taken preventive measures this time as well, steady rains that lasted for about 20 minutes resulted in waterlogging in many locations. Currently, eight pumps are being operated to drain out water. “Surajpur collectorate building is at a lower level compared to the road adjacent to it. Also, the drains near the building do not discharge water properly as they remain choked with silt and garbage. It is extremely difficult to get inside the building when it rains,” said Ramesh Gauta ....
Police said they had to break a part of the car’s roof to pull them out GREATER NOIDA: Four college students, who were returning home after a New Year party, were injured when the car they were travelling in hit a metro pillar on Friday morning. The accident took place around 2.30am and it is believed that the youths could not spot the pillar because of dense fog. The students were on their way to Jaypee Aman, Sector 151, when their car crashed into the pillar opposite a petrol pump at Tugalpur in Knowledge Park area. Police said they had to break a part of the car’s roof to pull out the students and then Manish Bhati (22), brothers Vaibhav Gaur (20) and Sameer Gaur (18), and Aniket Latwala (20) were taken to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida for treatment. ....
