It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Susan Furlotte (nee Hartviksen). She passed peacefully in her sleep at her home on May 20, 2021.
She leaves behind her husband Don Furlotte, her daughter Jennifer Hamilton (Chris Hamilton), her grandson Zakkary Hamilton and her mother Audrey Hartviksen. Susan was predeceased by her father Robert Hartviksen and her daughter Melissa.
Susan lived her entire life on Farrand Street in Thunder Bay amongst a close network of friends, neighbours and extended family. Growing up she enjoyed summers at camp on Lake Superior. She attended Confederation College studying General Arts. She met Don in 1969 and they were married on May 20, 1972. After raising her children, she enjoyed spending much of her time as her mother’s companion, often travelling on cruises together. ....

When Rose Byrne was playing a tormented ’80s aerobics instructor in the Apple TV+ series “Physical” a role that required her to radiate despair while marching it out in leg warmers and a barely there leotard she tried to remember something Susan Sarandon once told her about “Thelma & Louise.”
“She said she was so focused on all the driving she had to do that she didn’t have time to do so much
acting,” Byrne said recently. “It became a lesson in how, with the focus required for a task like driving or, in my case, aerobics it’s impossible to be as self-conscious in our performance. Even in my extremely tight leotard.” ....

Developers drop suit against N. Port after ruling against contraction

Wellen Park spokeswoman Jennifer Hamilton said via email that dismissal made sense after the city’s decision.
“Given the City of North Port Commissioners’ level-headed and unanimous decision in denying the petition to de-annex or contract from the city, we have decided to drop the lawsuit against the City of North Port,” Hamilton wrote. “The lawsuit is no longer appropriate, as the City Commissioners have acted in the best interests of all residents within the City of North Port and Wellen Park.”
Residents of the West Villages subdivisions of Wellen Park are seeking to separate from the city, in part because they do not feel they receive adequate services from the city for their taxes. ....
