Rush Truck Centres and Navistar Canada donate $5K to Sunshine Celebrations Rush Truck Centres of Canada and Navistar Canada have announced their support of Sunshine Celebrations in Kingston, Ontario. Sunshine Celebrations is an organization dedicated to providing subsidized birthday parties for families in need in Kingston. The two companies have partnered to donate $5,000 to the Queens University student-led non-profit organization. “It is our pleasure to provide support to Sunshine Celebrations. Their team has demonstrated immense leadership and passion to bring joy to families who have experienced hardship over this past year” said Roman Lewinsky, President, Navistar Canada. “We are always looking for bright young professionals to join the transportation industry and hope that by fostering their leadership skills, they will one day play integral roles at our boardroom table or in our dealerships.” ....
Lionhearts Inc. Street Project program surpasses 250K meals served The Street Project program implemented by Lionhearts Inc. has been serving hot take-home meals since March 2020. On April 16, 2021, the program passed 250,000 meals served since its inception. Volunteers with Lionhearts Inc. serve more than just a take-out box with a tasty meal. Daily offerings include snacks, fruit, pastries and fresh bread, hot chocolate, warm clothing, personal toiletries, fresh socks, and towels. The program has been integral for those in need during the pandemic, and has seen continued growth of the community it serves. “At Lionhearts, we have seen many incredible people help keep our meals-to-go program alive,” said Travis Blackmore, executive director. “Between our financial supporters, our team of chefs, and our teams who serve these meals seven nights a week, we have seen the vulnerable in our community be fed nutritious meals during a long season of unknowns and diff ....

These days, the pitch party is happening virtually, but the outcome is still the same: No-strings-attached money is given to the winner to help them develop the projects that Awesome Kingston thinks will keep Kingston awesome. B’s Bike Bites, a new mobile ice cream and beverage business here in Kingston, was the winner of Awesome Kingston’s April grant. During the summer of 2020, Bailey, a then 17-year-old Kingstonian, developed the dream for the business with his parents, Amber Potter and Aaron Visser. After running their first season, the family saw some areas to upgrade the equipment to make it a more independent process for Bailey. ....
Kingston City Council gives go ahead for Capitol Condos project Kingston City Council unanimously passed a motion on Tuesday, Apr. 6, 2021 to endorse the settlement on the proposed Capitol Condos project at 223 Princess Street. The Capitol Condos project will see a nine-storey condominium building at the former Capitol Movie Theatre in downtown Kingston. Plans, revisions, and conversations have been taking place since the 2015 announcement of a 18-storey highrise at this site. After much deliberation, IN8, the developer of the residential building proposed for the site, Building Kingston’s Future Inc. and the Frontenac Heritage Foundation signed Minutes of Settlement during the last week of March, 2021. The proposal was put before Council, and after a few brief questions for Paige Agnew, Commissioner of Community Services with the City of Kingston, the motion passed. ....
