B’s Bike Bites, a new mobile ice cream and beverage business here in Kingston, was the winner of Awesome Kingston’s April grant. During the summer of 2020, Bailey, a then 17-year-old Kingstonian, developed the dream for the business with his parents, Amber Potter and Aaron Visser. After running their first season, the family saw some areas to upgrade the equipment to make it a more independent process for Bailey. ....

Nick Lorraway and Natalie Woodland were the February winners with The Home Standards Project, an assessment tool for renters to help identify issues and bylaw violations at their rental property.

The first micro-grant of 2021 was awarded on Thursday, Jan. 21. Jennifer Ellis, a teacher at the Limestone District School Board pitched Awesome Kingston her Operation Love Literacy project. She wants to provide varied reading materials, including more BIPOC authors, for her students at Ernestown Secondary School in Odessa. ....
