Murray Police Department arrest suspect related to threats against high school Posted By: Features Editor January 29, 2021 Mason Galemore [email protected] Murray Police Department arrested a 19-year-old from Wisconsin after investigating an active shooter and bomb threat against Murray High School. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Kya Nelson for two counts of terroristic threatening in the second degree and one count of terroristic threatening in the first degree. “Detectives traveled to Racine, Wisconsin, and on Friday, Jan. 29, at approximately 7 a.m. they assisted with the execution of a search warrant at Mr. Nelson’s residence,” according to the press release sent by the MPD. ....
1:12 The Murray Police Department reports a 19-year-old Wisconsin man is responsible for two days of threats against the city’s high school earlier this week. Rachel Collins (with member station WKMS) has more. Nelson is charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, 2nd degree, related to the two phone calls about the active shooter, which are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in a state penitentiary; and one count of terroristic threatening, 1st degree, for the bomb threat, which is a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in a state penitentiary. MURRAY â City of Murray Mayor Bob Rogers said Thursday that he will not issue a mask mandate in the city, based both on legal advice, as well as what he and other city officials are seeing exhibited by residents and businesses. Rogers addressed this in a written statement before Thursday nightâs meeting of the city council.
