LOUISVILLE, Ky. Dino s Food Mart, a convenience store and gas station in west Louisville that has been the subject of numerous public nuisance complaints over the years, could be on its last legs following a code enforcement ruling Friday. The Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Board upheld Friday the order issued last summer for Dino s to vacate its premises at 2601 W. Broadway. But Jefferson County Attorney s Office spokesman Josh Abner said the property owners have still not exhausted their rights to appeal. Therefore, Louisville Metro Government is considering its options against Dino s following the Code Enforcement Board s action, Abner told The Courier Journal. ....

(WDRB) A Louisville man claims a Jeffersontown police officer aggressively confronted him while he recorded what he thought was a traffic stop, then sucker punched and improperly detained and charged him, according to a lawsuit filed Monday. Joseph Bennett posed no threat and there was no need for physical force by Officer Manuel Cruz, according to the suit that also claims Bennett s First Amendment rights were violated. Cruz s conduct demonstrated an utter disregard for basic human rights. Injuries Joseph Bennett says he sustained after he was sucker punched by Jeffersontown Police officer Manuel Cruz. In addition, the lawsuit in Jefferson Circuit Court claims Cruz had a known history of violent police behavior before the November 24 incident, which gained national attention after Bennett s video went viral. ....

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) Jeffersontown Police Chief Rick Sanders said an initial investigation shows his department needs additional training and could have better handled an incident where an officer struck, handcuffed and charged a bystander filming what he thought was a traffic stop. We could have done better and hopefully will do better in the future, Sanders told reporters during a Friday news conference. The news conference followed the conclusion of an investigation into whether a crime was committed against Joe Bennett after he refused to show his identification to officers while he recorded a Facebook Live video of police from a parking lot across from a bank on Nov. 24.  ....
