A tied match at half, turned into a lopsided Mid-Prairie win in the second 40 minutes as the Golden Hawk girls soccer team beat area school Columbus in Wellman Monday 7-0. Neither team could find their footing offensively in the first half with the two teams locked in a scoreless tie as they got to intermission. In the second half, the flood gates opened for the Hawks. They scored six of their seven goals in the first 25 minutes of the second stanza including two goals in 30 seconds. Finding the scoring column for Mid-Prairie were Esther Hughes and Julia Boller with two goals apiece and Kaitlin Martin, Evelyn Gerber and Kina Miller with one goal each. The Mid-Prairie boys come into the match unbeaten on the season with a 7-0 record. They are ranked No. 7 in class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association. In their last match, they gave Cascade their first loss of the season, beating the Cougars 3-0 on two goals from Jack Pennington and one from Owen Trimpe. On the year, the Golden Hawks are led by Owen Trimpe with a dozen goals. Ethan Trimpe has the team lead with seven assists, 10th most in 1A.
