× ALMOST 70 per cent of adults in Barnsley are fully vaccinated against coronavirus. Since the start of the vaccination programme in December, more than 313,000 vaccinations have been administered in Barnsley. A total of 143,027 of adults are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus - a 69.9 per cent uptake. More than 170,000 residents have had at least one dose of their vaccine - an 83.2 per cent uptake. Health bosses urge residents to 'consider the risks'

HEALTH bosses in Barnsley are encouraging the residents to ‘consider the risks’ as the country moves into the fourth - and final - stage of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.
Monday will be the first time in more than a year that face coverings will not be mandatory whilst in indoor public spaces and on transport.
Most legal restrictions that have been in place during the pandemic will be lifted on July 19, but the government has issues a list of ‘key protections’ which Barnsley Council is encouraging people across the borough to observe.
These include testing when you have symptoms and isolating when you receive a positive test or are contacted by NHS Track and Trace. ....

Every school in borough hit by Covid cases

EVERY secondary school in Barnsley has been affected by coronavirus cases this month - with almost 40 schools across the borough being forced to close a bubble.
Coronavirus cases in Barnsley are rapidly rising, due to both the Delta variant and the recent relaxation in restrictions, but the rise in cases in youngsters across the borough is becoming increasingly concerning.
Less than two months ago, on May 17, the rate for 15 to 19 year olds in Barnsley was just 32.4 per 100,000 residents - the rate at the end of June was 1,519.9, more than a 4,000 per cent increase.
The ten to 14-year-old category currently has a rate of 969.7 per 100,000 residents when on May 17 the rate was 42.2. ....
